Jesus had Choices and so do WE!
“The way we can be sure we know him is IF we are obeying his commands. Anyone who says, “I know him” but isn’t obeying his commands is a LIAR – the truth is not in him. But if someone keeps doing what he says, then truly love for God has been brought to its goal in him. This is how we are sure that we are united with him. A person who claims to be continuing in union with him ought to conduct his life the way he did! We know that we have come to know him IF we keep his commands”. I John 2:3-6 (CJB)
Jesus laid down His life: Jesus chose to lay down His life, leave Heaven and become fully a man!
“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!” (Philippians 2:6-8)
Jesus was an overcomer! Jesus didn’t settle for being a survivor He overcame the obstacles in His life! Jesus is our role model - not people on earth. Perhaps they can set an example for us - perhaps even inspire us but - they are not our role model!
“The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.” 1 John 3:8 (NIV)
Jesus was a Co-Worker with God! “As God’s fellow-workers we also urge you not to receive his grace and then do nothing with it.” 2 Corinthians 6:1 (CJB)
“ - and sent Timothy, our brother and God’s fellow worker for the Good News of the Messiah, to make you solid and encourage you in your trust;” I Thessalonians 3:2 (CJB)
Jesus was Made like us! “During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him” Hebrews 5:7-9 (NIV)
“For this reason he had to be made like them fully human in every way, in or God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.” Hebrews 2:17 (NIV)
His Father was Greater! – “For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.” John 14:28; Hebrews 2:17 (NIV)
Jesus Didn’t please himself! – “For even the Messiah did not please himself; rather, as the Tanakh says, ‘The insults of those insulting you fell on me.’
Romans 15:3 (CJB)
Jesus did NOT accept the praises of man! “I don’t collect praise from men” (John 5:41
Jesus suffered! – “Didn’t the Messiah have to die like this before entering his glory?” Luke 24:26- (CJB)Jesus Did nothing on his own: “So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up] the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.” John 8:28 (NIV)
Jesus was made poor! “For you know how generous our Lord Yeshua the Messiah was — for your sakes he impoverished himself, even though he was rich, so that he might make you rich by means of his poverty.” 2 Corinthians 8:9 (CJB)
Jesus was Tempted: We must go through the transformation process and so did Jesus! “Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” Hebrews 2:18 (NIV)
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:15-16 (NIV)
“and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted[a]by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.” Mark 1:13 (NIV)
Jesus had to LEARN OBEDIENCE! “During the days of Jesus’ life on earth he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son through he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who OBEY him!” Hebrews 5:7-9 (NIV)
“For this reason, he had to be made like them fully human in every way, in order that he may become a merciful, and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” Hebrews 2:17-18 (NIV)
God can’t be tempted! “When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;”
Mark 1:13 (NIV
