People’s heart intentions are not always obvious. Take Judas for instance. He appeared to people even his fellow disciples to be a very godly man. He appeared to everyone to be right on with God because he was one of Jesus followers. However, there was a great deal of evil in his heart! The people around him did not get it - but Jesus did!
Even when he made remarks about the perfume being poured on Jesus’ feet – the people around him did not get it. But, Jesus did!
“One of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.”
John 12:6 (NIV)
“Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going into a garage makes you an automobile.” Billy Sunday, Evangelist
