My Father the Supernatural God!

I want to start with a fictional example of an email account that a lady called Leah might have.  Since all email accounts have a main identity let us set this up as follows:

Main Identity - Leah

Under this main identity Leah could possibly have the following sub-accounts:

Sub-Accounts

Daughter   Sister   Wife   Mom   Grandmother   Friend

Now, Leah can send emails from her main identity or from her sub-accounts.  No matter what account she chooses to use – she will be recognized because Leah is known by her character and nature!  She is known by what she does. There are many facets to her – and her attributes will show through in her emails.

Leah can say in these emails whatever she feels needs to be said.  All the individual attributes of her character and nature can be sent forth and hopefully meet the need of the individual she is writing too!  If need be, she can share, encourage, counsel, comfort, instruct, give direction, correct, and profess her love for the individual she is writing too!  Simply put, she will attempt to be what she needs to be in each situation she encounters.

These sub-accounts do not make Leah six different individuals or six different people!  She is still one person – she is Leah!  That is her MAIN IDENTITY!

From what I have learned there are 23 compound names of God found in Scripture, as well as more than 40 compound names of Jehovah.  In being the supernatural awesome God that He is – there is a facet of His character and nature to meet any need we have in all situations in our lives!  James called God “the Father of Lights” (James 1:17).  Peter called him the “faithful creator” and the God of all grace (I Peter 4:19; 5:10).  John said, “God is Love” (I John 4:16.  Jude referred to God as, “God our Savior” (Jude 25).  There are so many verses in the written Word that reveal God’s many attributes.  However, it is so important that we learn and see his many attributes and his character and nature at work in our lives daily!

When Moses came upon the burning bush God began to speak to him.  Immediately God began giving him instructions.  First and foremost, God told him to take off his shoes because he was on Holy ground!  When Moses obeyed and removed his shoes, God continued!  God commissioned and set before him a task of astronomical proportions.   He was to return to Egypt and bring the nation of Israel into freedom.  Moses had many concerns so; he began to question God regarding what was bothering him.  Little did Moses know God had already answered his concerns when He said to him, “I AM that I AM!”

What God was saying was: “Moses I AM everything you need; we are partners Moses.  In this venture we are a team.  We can do this together!  I will be with you every second of the way!  In asking you to do this Moses I AM not setting you up for failure.  I do not do that!  I AM a supernatural God and if need be, I AM willing to perform great supernatural acts to back you up.  You see Moses I AM a multifaceted God! As we go along on this journey the facets of my character and nature will be revealed to you.  Whatever the issue, whatever the problem I will meet every need you and my people will have for us to accomplish this journey!  Just trust ME and do what I tell you to do.  As we go along you will begin to know Me - really know Me – not just know about me!  In any given situation we encounter I will be and shall be all that you need!

“But Moses said to God, “If I come to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you’, and if they ask me, ‘What is his name?’  What shall I say to them?”  God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.”  He said further, “Thus you shall say to the Israelites, I AM has sent me to you’: God also said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob has sent me to you’:  This is my name forever, and this is my title for all generations.” Exodus 3:13-15 (NRSV)

Literally translated from the Hebrew I AM that I AM means:

I AM will be what I AM will be!

No matter how many names for God there are, God is still ONE God!  He is the everlasting one; the one True God with NO beginning and NO end and his name is:

I AM!

I AM is: OmniscientHe knows everything!  He has unlimited understanding and knowledge of everything!

“From the place where he lives
he who fashioned the hearts of them all
and understands all they do.”
Psalms 33:14-15 (CJB)

I AM isOmnipresent – He is present in all places at all times!  God’s presence is everywhere within His creation and yet He himself is invisible!

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
Psalms 137:7-8 (NIV)

I AM is: Omnipotent – God has complete and unlimited power and authority and influence!  Therefore, God can manifest Himself in visible form when He so chooses!

Adonai appeared to Avraham by the oaks of Mamre as he sat at the entrance to the tent during the heat of the day.  He raised his eyes and looked, and there in front of him stood three men. On seeing them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, prostrated himself on the ground, and said, “My lord, if I have found favor in your sight, please don’t leave your servant.”  Genesis 18:1-3 (CJB)

“So to the King — eternal, imperishable and invisible, the only God there is — let there be honor and glory for ever and ever! Amen.

I Timothy 1:17 (CJB)

God is High and Lifted up!

“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.”

Isaiah 6:1-4 (NIV)

“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.  The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.  He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.  He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.  For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.  As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.  The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.

But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.

The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.

Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.  Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will.  Praise the Lord, all his works everywhere in his dominion.  Praise the Lord, O my soul.”

Psalm 103:1-22 (NIV)
