Responsibility

When we learn something and know it, we are responsible for it!

We can be so responsible about so many things: taking a bath, getting our sleep, getting to work on time, going on vacation, watching TV, eating our meals, etc.  For the most part we can be responsible for these areas in our lives.

However, the big question is this, why can’t we be responsible with the things of God and from God? Why, do we put off and ignore what God wants us to do?  Why do we find it so easy to put the things of God off?  We have all done it.  No one can say they have not.

Let us get this straight, whatever God has given us, He has entrusted it to us.  Therefore, we are responsible for it.  Example: whether in the physical realm (your body), or in the spiritual realm (gifting), He gave it to you, so you are responsible to take care of it.  It belongs to Him!   Everything God has given you; you are responsible for! “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”  (KJV) Luke 12:48

When God entrusts something to us, He requires us to do what He wants us to do with it.  Has God entrusted you with something?  Have you gotten with God and asked Him – “What do I do now God?”

If you have not, why not?  If you have ignored that something or if you have put the issue on the back burner, you are saying to God, “I don’t want you renting space in my head.  If you do not want God renting space in your head, then who or what are you allowing to rent space in your head?  When God gets our attention and we do nothing about it, in essence we are saying to Him, “I don’t have time for this.” or “you can’t tell me what to do!”  That is disobedience!  This may sound harsh - but it is truth!

If we do that - who do we think, we are kidding?  No matter how hard we try, it cannot be watered down.   Disobedience is disobedience - and there are no degrees to it.  There are no little or big levels of disobedience.  It is disobedience, period!

How much time are you spending with God?  I am talking about sit down time with Him.  Does God really have the place in your life that He deserves?  You know we are talking about God here - not someone you just know.  We are not talking about, your neighbor or a family member.  We are talking about The Most High God!  The creator of the Universe!

Just exactly where is God in your life?  Where is He on your priority list?  Ask yourself now, what is the most important thing in my life?  Be honest?  Is it food, relaxing, sleep, TV?  Is it your job?  Is it your spouse?  Are you more worried about what other people will think if you get your life right with God?  If you are then you are putting other people’s opinions ahead of God.  That is a mistake!

Are you hanging on to things in your life?  Speaking of things in your life, there was a line in a song “it’s your thing, do what you want to do”, is this the motto of our lives?  Just what has God placed His finger on in your life?  Are you still hanging on to it?

It is so easy to look at other people’s mistakes.  But what about ours?  Do we ever think WE could be in disobedience?  Do we take God’s grace lightly?  Do we expect God to continuously “cut us slack”?  Do you ever think of yourself as “pushing the envelope with God”?   If we know that God is wanting us to do something and we choose to not do it that is deliberate!  So, do we ever do anything that is deliberate?  Yes, we do!  Do we ever put God off?  Yes, we do!  If we know we are supposed to do something God wants us to and we choose not to do it - that is rebellion!  Call it what you want - it is rebellion!  By your action not to pursue getting with God about whatever He wants you to do or discuss you are in rebellion.  Here is Truth; God’s wants us to walk in obedience to Him in fact it is very plainly written in I John 2:3-6:

“We know that we have come to know him IF we keep His commands.  Whoever says, “I know Him,” but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.  But if anyone obeys His Word, love for God is truly made complete in them.  This is how we know we are IN Him.  Whoever claims to live in Him MUST WALK as Jesus did.”
