The Gift of Grace!
The Gift of Grace is Jesus Himself and His example! By Him laying down His life to come to the earth to set the example for us in how to live our lives we can obtain grace which is favor in God’s eyes! Thus, we can obtain our Salvation – in short, the Grace Gift is Jesus’ example!
No, we don’t have to do anything for the Gift of Grace itself– because Jesus did it all when He set the example in how to live our lives by fully relying on God! Yes, it is done because He came and lived and died to show us the right way. But the bottom line is that the Gift of Grace is THE EXAMPLE He set. And that is why we do have to do something – we must follow His example! It is a gift because we did NOT deserve it – and - we still don’t! However, we must follow that example – and if we do NOT, we do NOT have grace/favor in God’s eyes and without it there is no Salvation on this earth and in eternity.
Grace is not a package of unmerited favor in the sense the church teaches, that we couldn’t keep the law, so Jesus came and did it all, so we didn’t have to worry about it. Jesus did NOT do all so we could go about our merry way and think we don’t have to do anything to obtain Salvation. We do have to do something – we must follow the Grace Gift’s example to obtain Salvation! We must walk as Jesus did!
“But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. I John 5:5-6 (NIV)
“He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” I John 5:12 (NIV)
For man to think that he doesn’t have to do anything is haughty! Why would God asked us to do anything any less than Noah! The Bible clearly states: “But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God.” Genesis 6:8-9 (NIV)
Noah had to do something! He had to walk with God! God is not a respecter of persons!
“Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism.” Acts 10:34 (NIV)
A teaching that would indicate that we would have to do any less than Noah, Moses, or anyone else is to be arrogant, and haughty! We must walk with God just like they did and to do that we have to follow Jesus’ example!
We have to believe/trust that He came and did this, and we must believe and trust that we must do this, and we must act on this and “just do it!”
We are co-workers with God! (II Corinthians 6:1; I Thessalonians 3:2) We must do something! We are not so special that we can say we live under Grace – we must live in Grace!
The way that this is taught today is that man was handed a gift that let him off the hook and that is not true. Man was cut a great deal of slack by God by Him sending His Son the Sacrifice Lamb as the gift of Grace and Truth! Yeshua is the gift of Grace – and we are to follow the Gift of Grace! Follow! Therefore, Yeshua kept saying, “Follow me”!
The Gift is the Example and the Death of the Example which was the lying down of His life on a cross - therefore we must lay down our lives for Him! We must follow the example of unmerited favor to have favor with God!
If we walk out of that example – which we can – we can walk away from Salvation!
“. . .strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.” Acts 14:22 (NIV)
Salvation is found and obtained by walking in the Grace Gift, which is which is Jesus Himself!
When we are walking in the Grace Gift which is “following” than we are walking in Christ – then we are walking in the Shadow of the Almighty – then we are under the Umbrella of Protection – then we are walking in our Salvation – then we have Grace/Favor – because we are walking in Truth!
Why? Because Jesus is the way the Truth and the Life and no one comes unto the Father except by Him!
Obedience is Salvation and can only be obtained by walking in the Grace Gift of God which was Yeshua the Messiah! This is being in Christ!
The only gift God gave us was Jesus Himself and what a gift that was! That was unmerited favor! And beyond that it is up to man to take it from there!
And that takes being a co-worker with God!
